It kinda helps narrow things down, by taking part in answering some questions and what not, just to get a clear personality from you to make matchmaking easier. I feel the same way of becoming friends and getting into a relationship naturally, and dating sites let you do that too. You don't have to get into dating quickly! Do it!!

It’s still something I really have to think about, though I have a sinking feeling I’ll end up caving and doing it because I really don’t have any other options. I never really seem to hear anything good about dating sites (except in ads for dating sites themselves, which doesn’t count). Though it usually sounds like the men are the ones you really have to watch out for (I’m sure there are crazies on both sides though), so I guess I’m lucky I don’t have to worry about them, heheh.
