In a meeting with investors today, Nintendo CEO and president Satoru Iwata announced that the company intends to put out a new 2D Super Mario title for 3DS some time between March 2012 - March 2013 (I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s toward the end of the period).

Good news! I hope they manage to release it this year, just because they’ve been managing to put out one new Mario game each year for a while now, save for 2008. New SMB in 2006, Galaxy in 2007, New SMB Wii in 2009, Galaxy 2 in 2010, and 3D Land in 2011.
